Snow on the tops

painting landscape stalybridge england english snow winter street scene

These little terraced houses seem weighted down by the heavy snowfalls. Well, if you're going to have snow you might as well have it proper. Those are the lower slopes of the Pennines you see in the background. We call them the moors and often "the tops".

Love the colour and design in this one. I've been looking at these muted colours all day as I drive and thinking about them, and for the first time in a great while we have snow.

You are such an amazingly excellent painter.

Take care,

Barbara

Barbara, thanks for the kind words. This year the snow seems to be hitting a lot of us who are not normally privileged.

Wonderfully strong design in this amazing painting.(Sheila, you have created such a special winter feel in this one, you make it look/feel as though you have been painting snowy scenes all of your days!)

Thanks Linny - it's all gone now! We all thought it was such a big deal but many parts of the world, including north america have the white stuff for months on end. The UK is just not equipped to deal with it. Everything kind of shut down for 10 days!
