Day's end : across the valley

mill factory small town landscape sunset stalybridge england english oil painting

This painting has been sold

Oil on hardboard 8" x 8"

Quite a romantic view - an old mill chimney highlighted against the setting sun. That's the 'Bridge for you (although the chimney is probably in Dukinfield or Ashton looking at the distances). We are nothing if not exploitative.

This is wonderful, Sheila, and chimneys are one of my favorite subjects.

Hi Mary. Glad that amused you. Yeh, the chimneys - one of my favourite things. Maybe I'll buy one and stick it in my 15 foot square back yard, LOL.

Good work. I like this time of day. Time to relax after work with a cup of coffee or a favorite drink.

Thank you Simon is "luminous" the opposite of "moody" I wonder? It's dark, it's historic, but it's not moody. Interesting isn't it?

Thank you Connie - it is a lovely time of day isn't it but often our skies here are grey. It's only after a clear spell we get sunsets like this.
