There are 5 reservoirs serving this area of the north with water. You can just see a glimpse of the first one up there on the left. I think that is Bottoms reservoir. The sun was just catching the hills there on a fine September day.

This is a great spot. I can turn round 360 degrees from this one spot and see dozens of views for possible paintings - and even the same spot in different weather and different times of day is going to look different of course. (I've also discovered where I can park the car much closer so that's an advantage too and saves time).

Well, long time it seems since I graced the Stalybridge blog with a painting, and I am really proud to say I did this one totally "plein air". Yeh, I actually sat in a field and painted it this morning. Just a couple of studio tweaks when I got back but I think it is the first time I have ever really enjoyed painting outside. In fact I did two this morning so will put up the second one tomorrow.
